What Our Clients Say

"From initial design to completed room addition, our experience with Daniel Mackey Construction has been a refreshingly pleasant one. They have been consistently on-time, on-budget, and on-call; quick to respond to our questions and concerns. They've been key problem solvers in designing solutions that are modern in execution, but match the arts and craft style of our 90+ year-old home. We are thrilled with the finished product and even more excited that we avoided the 'contractor nightmares' that so many others have experienced with other firms. We highly recommend Mackey Construction."

- Michelle Albertson

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Daniel Mackey Construction to anyone and will always let anyone who calls know how happy I am with the job. It's been a year and I'm still so awed at the wonderful transformation Dan accomplished. Thank you to all!"

No one imagined that COVID 19 would happen. It is as if the biggest disaster movie ever became real. Times have been tough and will be that way for a little more time. As always, mankind will overcome this and one day we will look back at this time and remember stories to tell our children and grandchildren. One silver lining to the pandemic is that we have been able to spend time at home, finding out again how wonderful it is to be with the family. COVID 19 will pass and when it does, it will be a good time to start thinking about the problems faced while being stuck at home and the solutions. One thing to think about is home automation.

5 Benefits of Home Automation

Home automation is not just a fad that provides your home with features and functions that are available at the touch of a button. Yes, that does make life easy and convenient, but an automated home is far more than just that. Today’s home automation options will increase your safety, security, comfort and convenience, while also offering significant savings. Here is a basic outline of the benefits that home automation can offer you.

A knock on the door late at night or an unusual rustling in the bushes you hear through your bedroom window is enough to make you uneasy. You have to get out of bed, go to the door or window and try to figure out who is knocking or making the sound. It's dark and there is not much you can see, even with the external lights on. It's bad enough when you are home, but what about when the kids are alone there? How do they handle it? With high definition video, motion sensors to turn on lights automatically and 2-way communications, anyone in the house can find out who is outside and what is going one without having to open the door. If there is something out of the ordinary, pressing a button can call the police or parents.

Security is not the same as safety. Safety is for your family when they are at home. Security is for your home when there is no one there. With home automation, you can lock the doors and windows from wherever you are, draw the curtains and turn lights on and off. Networked video cameras will allow you to see what is happening, indoors and out, on your phone or tablet. Lights, TVs, music systems can be turned on and off either at set times or remotely to give the impression that an empty house is occupied. Once again, if there is cause for concern, help is just a button press away.

Your home is where you expect to be most comfortable. With home automation, you can come home to a house that is warmed or cooled to the temperature you want. The interior temperature can change automatically to compensate for external temperature changes, so you do not have to keep fiddling with the thermostat. If one part of the house needs to be at a different temperature, home automation will take care of that.

Everyone carries their phone with them all the time. That is all you need to control your home, no matter where in the world you are. You can:

• Check that you have locked up and if anything is unlocked, lock it with your phone.

• Going out of town? There is no need to ask nosy neighbors to look after your house. You can check and control everything whenever you want to.

• Going to be late getting home? Home automation allows you to turn on the lights and even start warming up your dinner.

• Automatically send a reminder to the kids to come home for dinner.

• Voice-activated controls and artificial intelligence now mean that you only have to ask for something for it to be done.

With an automated home, electrical equipment and appliances are on only when needed so you do not have to keep going around turning things off. There is no need to worry about something being left on and having the rush home. You can check and turn it off with your phone. Energy will be used only when and where it is required, and savings will be seen in your utility bills.

These are just a few of the benefits of home automation. The features and capabilities are continuously expanding offer new levels of safety, security, comfort, convenience, saving and much more.
